Celebrating our 25th Anniversary!

First farmers market 2001.

The Wilmot Farmers Market began in 2001 with the original mission and purpose of fostering and strengthening community spirit and bonds. The Wilmot Farmers Market has its origins as a part of a fundraiser for the construction of the Bandstand on the Town Green, which was dedicated to the "Memory of the victims of 9/11." Starting in June, the Bandstand Committee, comprised of Rhonda & Ed Gauthier, and Maureen Baron, organized fundraising events on the Town Green to raise money for the construction of the Bandstand, a gazebo-type structure, which would serve the community. By 2004, the Wilmot Farmers Market, with ten additional vendors, had become a fixture in the summer activities on the Town Green and was listed with the Department of Agriculture. Griselda Stahlman served as the first director. The market grew in popularity, both with customers and vendors, and in July of 2005, became a separate entity from the Bandstand Committee.

Since then, the idea has expanded into a profitable outlet for local and small family farmers, entrepreneurs, and artisans, promoting and encouraging the importance of preserving family farms, small businesses, and area agriculture.  We are proud to be connected with the Merrimack County Conservation District through its famers markets program and to be doing our part to help maintain the natural resources and cultural heritage of the County.

The Wilmot Farmers Market has become a community hub filled with sights, sounds, and tastes that nourish, please, and entertain the entire family. Residents and visitors return week after week, season after season, to purchase directly from farmers and producers; greet old friends; enjoy a hot breakfast or lunch; and listen to music on the bandstand featuring talented area musicians.

A quarter-century later, the market has really developed into the living embodiment of community spirit.  These days, there is always a variety of new and established vendors, farms and musicians that animate Saturday mornings in Wilmot.  Weekly customers are quite likely to meet area visitors who may be surprised to learn how much is happening on the Wilmot Town Green. Anyone visiting the market can learn from an array of local organizations who are with us under the education tent, all with the joint goal of building our shared community.

In short, for twenty-five years now, the Wilmot Farmers Market has demonstrated that local producers, consumers, artisans, musicians, gifts and needs make up a community. The more we all pitch in to help a neighbor, the more we all thrive together.

The Wilmot Farmers Market is the place you otta be!

9 Kearsarge Valley Road in Wilmot and parkin's free.

Saturday morning - make your plans,

meet your neighbors - shake their hands.

Give them a hug or kiss their cheek.

From June to late September every week!

If it's before noon, and after 9,

you'll find a group there rain or shine.

Yes, if it's wet, just wear them hoodies,

'cause those ovens have still baked up those goodies.

In the bandstand, musicians are playing.

In the coops, hens are laying.

There's rows of tents with baked goods and crafts.

Friends and neighbors with whom you laugh.

Veterans get free bucks to shop,

Breakfast sandwiches are worth the stop!

Connect with folks that provide you food,

pass by those stores with attitude.

Grab some pottery or a string of beads,

a wooden spoon or fruit with seeds.

Fluffy marshmallows or a scarf of silk,

soap and ice cream from goat's milk.

Lots of veggies from which to choose,

plus the meats to make those stews.

Mushrooms, seasonings, and fresh baked bread.

Bright colored cloth sewn with thread.

So if it's Saturday - now 'til Fall,

The Wilmot Market becomes a mall.

Friends visit and fill up their bag.

Dogs come with them with tails that wag.

Strangers drop by to check us out.

Leaving as family, without a doubt!
